Santander Donation

A city charity which provides work preparation and life skills training to people with learning and physical disabilities has snapped up a donation of over £10,000 from the Santander Foundation to fund a tutor for a new personal finance project.

MK Snap offer a range of activities and learning, all aimed at progressing their clients towards greater independence in their everyday lives. The new project will provide around 100 young adults with the tools, knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their personal finances, without fear of prejudice due to their physical or learning disabilities.

Lauren Ellaway, tutor at MK Snap said: “Even young people of normal ability enter adulthood ill-equipped to deal with their personal finances; this risk is magnified among the vulnerable and those with learning difficulties. The very generous grant received from the Santander Foundation will enable us to teach our students how to use their own money and manage their finances, which will help increase their confidence and independence.”

Lorna Hunt, Head of Governance Risk and Reporting at Santander said: “The need for sound knowledge and advice on how to manage personal finances in the current climate is essential. We are delighted to have been able to support this very timely project and hope that all of MK Snap’s clients will find it of benefit.”
